[Name]: Vanitas
[Canon]: Kingdom Hearts
[Age]: Was created 16 years ago, was 4 when absorbed into Ventus, looks 15ish.
[Gender]: Male
[Canon Point]: After Dream Drop Distance.
[History]: Here
[Personality]: Vanitas is a rather miserable person. He was once very much like Ventus; curious and friendly. However, because of his cruel upbringing under Master Xehanort he finds joy in very few things; specifically fighting and causing chaos, two things that Xehanort encouraged him to do. As a being of complete darkness he has trouble understanding the emotions he feels, positive and negative, though he experiences more negative than positive emotions so he has a slightly better understanding of them. Because of this, he tries to put on a cool front so that he doesn’t have to admit he how he feels. This was something else Master Xehanort encouraged.
Below this cool front he is your typical blood knight; he craves battles. The bigger, the better. He wanted to instigate a second Keyblade War just for the joy of participating. He is very pragmatic when it comes to fighting, not afraid to coerce others into fight by threatening the people they love. He’s also liable to fight dirty, and will go to any length to achieve victory, as shown during his final confrontation with Ventus where he shattered their Station of Awakening/Dive to the Heart Piller, which represents their heart. It is only under a great amount of stress that Vanitas will break his cool facade and show the terror and desperation he feels underneath.
In casual conversation Vanitas will be rude and blunt. If he feels annoyed by something he will tell the cause of the annoyance, and go on to belittle them. He has very little sympathy for anyone, including his Master. He also rather resentful of everyone for having light in their hearts while he does not, though he most resentful of Ventus, who still has all of their light.
Pride is a defining trait of his; pride if his power, pride of his purpose. This is ultimately his downfall as he consistently underestimates his opponents. Envy is another defining trait. He is very envious of Ventus and his light. Despite being a creature of pure darkness, he yearns for the light, to be whole again. He is so envious of Ventus that he goes out of his way to belittle him.
Being such a prideful person, Vanitas isn’t really capable of loyalty. He may have been loyal to Xehanort, but he was willing to go against his orders and kill Ventus if he found Ventus to be too weak for their purposes, and decided to use Aqua as backup, despite knowing that it had to be Ventus he had to merge with. He even had his own plans for the X-Blade that didn’t completely match up with Xehanort’s. He is, however, respectful of people with power.
Coming to this world will be very confusing to Vanitas, as he ‘died’ when he was reabsorbed into Ventus’ heart. He still existed as a part of Ventus while the other boy slept for twelve years, but was unaware of it. His confusion will make him more irritable at first, and while he won’t admit it, he’s thankful for the second chance at life. He’ll be furious to know that Ventus is around too. He won’t be sure if he wants to try to merge with Ventus again, and he’ll be intrigued by Roxas, who is a being like him; a cast off. He’s also thankful that he is free of Master Xehanort’s control. Mostly, Vanitas will be looking for a fight to make himself feel alive.
[Abilities / Strengths & Weaknesses]: Like most Keyblade wielders he is capable of wielding magic, for him he uses the elements of ice, fire, and lightning. However, his spells have dark energy to them, making them black in appearance, he’s also capable of incorporating lightning magic into physical attacks with his keyblade. He’s a skilled swordsman capable, and arrogant enough, of taking on multiple opponents. His Keyblade is called Void Gear, and it is a rather large Keyblade he’s capable of wielding singlehandedly. His greatest spell is called “Dark Canon” which calls forth three crystals and focuses their energy into a single beam of dark energy that he can sweep in arcs for about thirty seconds.
He’s capable of acrobatic feats, such as jumping from cliffs and landing on his feat and leaping from one rapidly moving object to another speeding object with ease. He’s also capable of short range teleportation, which he uses to attack people from behind. His teleportation are so fast they leave after images
He’s capable of travel through the Lanes Between without a glider. With his keyblade is capable of unlocking any lock, and the hearts of others.
Vanitas true power, however, is his ability to create Unversed. This monsters are created by his fledgling, half understood emotions. These beings vary in size and power. Once they hurt him when destroyed, but he has since dulled himself to the pain.
[Limited Powers]: First and foremost his ability to create the Unversed will be severely negated. He can create only one Flood at a time, and it’ll hurt him if it’s destroyed. Regaining the ability to feel when the Unversed is destroyed will cause him to not create so many and only summon one for scouting purposes once he learns of that fact.
He’ll also be cut off from the Lanes Between.
[Other Important Facts]: Despite coming from after Dream Drop Distance, he will have no memory of the past twelve years like Ventus does. He does remember being roused very briefly during Sora’s drop into the dreams, however afterwards he became quiet again.

[The enemy was already boarding the ship when the call went out, but Vanitas thought that just made things more fun. Gripping his Keyblade he launched into action, using dark magic and swordsmanship to take them down, smiling as he did so. They weren't smart, and they weren't strong, but just seeing them fall before him was enough. For now.]
Anyone one else want to go against me?
[He looked around, eyeing the enemies. None of them were coming near him now. That was fine. He could work with that. Springing into action he chose the toughest looking opponent to take down.] Looks like you're first.
[The others began running back to their ship, and Vanitas fought the urge to pout as he stood on top his defeated enemies. Instead, he smiled viciously at their retreating backs]
Hmm... decisions. Follow them, or not... [He hefted his keyblade and pointed it at the enemy pirate ship] Or just blow it up?
